Effortlesness
From the Daoist classic Zhuang Zi (third century, B.C.):
A man jumps into a raging, torrential river and goes for a swim.
Confucious runs frantically along the shore, certain that the man will be drowned.
When the man later pulls himself gracefully up on the riverbank,
Confucious aks him how he managed to stay afloat. The man replies:
“I just go in with a swirl and out with a whirl. I follow the way of the water and don’t think of myself””.
